| "Building a bar of Mosaic Damascus" |
 |
: |
Building Mosaic Damascus is a series of steel manipulations, limited only by your imagination and patience.
The process requires several steps in which the steel is heated and pressed in different directions to form a desired pattern. |
: |
| After achieving your desired pattern(or just running out of patience), The billet must be ground to remove all of the built-up scale formed during the forging process. The billet is then cut in an "Accordian" style, to prepare it for "Unfolding". |
 |
| After "Accordian" cutting the billet, you then attach new handles and put the billets back into the forge. After Re-heating the billet, you can very gently and methodically, un-fold the billet. This will allow the pattern to be revealed. |
 |
Flatten and square up the bar of mosaic on the press & You are ready to begin forging a mosaic Damascus knife.
All of this has only taken about 2-3 days to accomplish!!! |
